I hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend/holiday. We took a little time off from the list after Saturday but we’re back at it today. Here’s part 13.
From Burke Street Pizza (both locations) Facebook(s):
We have plenty of Social Spacing as we have taken away chairs and eliminated half of our seating. Staff is all “Face Masked Up” and ready to serve you.
Burke Street Pizza Robinhood Location is ready for Phase 2 at 50% Occupancy. Everyone has their masks on, although one smart guy pulled it down when I said “Smile”! Smh. Extra cleaning, extra spacing and directing traffic will be the new norms. We’re trying hard to keep both employees and our customers safe and healthy. If you don’t feel comfortable yet, we still have curbside pickup and delivery available using our own drivers.
AND FOR TODAY: Burke St. Pizza Robinhood Rd. location is 10 Years old today!! In celebration of our ten years in business we will give everyone 10% off their order today, at the Robinhood Rd. location only. We are so happy that you have kept us going for 10 years in Sherwood Shopping Center that we want to thank everyone for their loyalty!! It’s been a great 10 years, help us make it 10 more!!! Our 10% off promotion does not apply to the Tuesday Pizza special of $2 off Specialty Pizzas. Thank you to all our Loyal Burke St. Pizza Customers!!!
From Café Arthurs’ Facebook (on Friday after I checked it):
Hey guys!! We will be opening our doors bright & early for dine-in Tuesday morning at 6 AM. Unfortunately, due to excessive sanitary precautions and guidelines we have to follow, we would love to see every one of you today at 5 pm when phase 2 starts, but we have to ensure the safety of our staff and customers. Thanks so much for your continued support. We look forward to seeing each and every one of you!!!
From Diamondback Grill’s Facebook: (edited to reflect that they re-opened on 5/22)
We respect that people may have differing opinions about whether they want to take advantage of this opportunity.
We will continue offering curbside pick-up of this same menu going forward, Tuesday through Saturday, as we have been doing.
Various businesses may be more or less prepared to welcome guests back, despite everyone’s sincere concerted efforts, and I respect our many restaurant friends’ decisions to do what they feel is best…and we continue to wish us all good luck persevering.
I would like to offer a short summary of why I feel we are ready. In addition to Diamondback, I am a Dining Services Director for a large senior living community which, thanks to much hard work and good fortune, has remained unaffected by Covid-19, despite serving 500 meals a day. I’ve been sharing my experience with Kimberly and our management team, including regular state and federal health care industry updates and training on common sense food handling, hand washing, sanitizing and social distancing.
Reopening is not a profit-driven action. Most of us in small local food service may be many months from seeing the business most of us have worked for years or decades to build with blood sweat and tears.
If you are ready to step back out, we have done our best to be ready for you. And unlike a trip to the grocery store, I can assure you no other
customers have touched your lettuce.

From Dioli’s Italian Market’s Facebook:
On behalf of Roger and our children I wanted to thank you… our friends, neighbors, students, loyal customers, out of town patrons and the new faces we have met these past 8 weeks for supporting Dioli’s Italian Market during this very difficult time. When we opened the store 13 years ago, we were hoping to bring a taste of our Italian heritage to the community and your dinner tables. What we did not realize was our labor of love was creating lifelong friendships with the wonderful residents of the triad. We were part of your birthdays, anniversaries and graduations. As our children grew, so did our business. And then Covid-19 hit! We were not sure where our business was headed or if we were going to make it through the shutdown. But we stayed open and you came in to eat! You stayed patient while we navigated through uncharted waters. You came in with a smile always wished us well, then went home and told your friends that Dioli’s was open. And it all mattered. With your help, we kept our entire staff employed and kept the 11 children of Dioli employees fed. So, THANK YOU! Thank you for your support and your loyalty. Thank you for keeping our family business open. And thank you for continuing to support our fellow locally owned businesses.
All the best to you and yours,
Karen and Roger Dioli
From Duke’s Restaurant’s Facebook:
Dear loyal patrons,
thank you for your ongoing support during these unfortunate and trying times! We want to ensure that each and every customer/staff health and safety is taken seriously and we are doing our best to abide by ALL requirements to open our doors at 50%. We plan to reopen the dining room Wednesday 8-2 limiting our hours for a short time. We understand that face masks are a recommendation and NOT a requirement so please respect people’s decisions on these recommendations. It has been an extremely tough time for ALL of us including restaurant owners, staff and patrons as well these past SEVERAL weeks and we kindly and humbly ask for your patience.
Thank you and God Bless
More to come, stay safe WSNC!!
