The Re-Emergence Part 7

Here’s part 7:

From Fratelli’s Italian Steakhouse’s Facebook: Dine-In available 5/26

From Grecian Corner’s Facebook:

Good morning Facebook Friends! I want to take a minute to thank you for continuing to support us during this pandemic. Your support has been humbling. Many of you have asked if we will be open for dine-in service this weekend. As of now, we will not offer dine-in service. Perhaps in a week or two we will be ready to take on this new challenge. Yes, some things will be different. We ask for your patience and understanding as we work through this situation. As most of you know, our dining rooms are not very big. This will severely impact how many tables are usable when accounting for social distancing. As soon as we open for dine-in, we will let you know here, on Facebook. In the meantime, we will continue to offer takeout and delivery (3rd party). Also, keep us in mind for catering if your office has gone back to work. We now offer boxed lunches as an option. We truly hope you have a great Friday!

From Giada’s Trattoria’s Facebook:

Friends, after over 2 months restaurants have been allowed to reopen at 50% capacity. Unfortunately, with only 48 hours’ notice, we cannot pull it off for you guys this weekend. We need time to train our staff to the new guidelines, order food and prep everything. This takes time, and we do not want to start off on the wrong foot. This Phase will last 5 weeks, so we feel we need to be able to do it right.

WE WILL OFFER TO GO AND DELIVERY FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.

Our hoursย for the rest of this week and next week will be:
Thursday May 21 – (11a-2p / 4pm-7pm) – Delivery / To Go Only
Friday May 22 – (11a-2p / 4pm-8pm) – Delivery / To Go Only
Saturday May 23 – (4pm-8pm) – Delivery / To Go Only
Sunday May 24 – (1pm-7pm) – Delivery / To Go Only
Monday May 25 – CLOSED

Week of May 26-31

Tuesday May 26 – (11AM-4PM(To Go) / 4pm-8pm) – DINE IN! / Delivery / To Go
Wednesday May 27 -(11AM-4PM(To Go) / 4pm-8pm) – DINE IN! / Delivery / To Go
Thursday May 28 – (11AM-4PM(To Go) / 4pm-8pm) – DINE IN! / Delivery / To Go
Friday May 29 – (11AM-4PM(To Go) / 4pm-8pm) – DINE IN! / Delivery / To Go
Saturday May 30 – (4pm-8pm) – DINE IN! / Delivery / To Go
Sunday May 31 – (11AM-4PM / 4pm-8pm)- DINE IN! / Delivery / To Go

On a personal note, we want to take the time to thank everyone for their support. This has been extraordinarily difficult and timely help from our insurance company and governmental leaders non-existent. During the shutdown, Giadas celebrated our 7 year anniversary. It didn’t seem like a very joyous occasion, but we are proud of what our team has built and the impact we make daily on the Kernersville community.

Reopening will also be difficult. Some of our team members said yesterday it felt like we were opening a “new” restaurant. In many ways, we are. Please be patient and kind over the next few weeks as our staff tries to deliver the best possible food and service to you under less than ideal circumstances. If it takes longer than expected, or you feel uncomfortable about anything please talk to our managers, we will make it right. Let’s be compassionate and caring and leave the “Keyboard Wars” in the first quarter of 2020, which we are glad to have in the rearview mirror.

-Dave & Joanne Nicoletta and the entire Giadas Family

From Goody’s Grill’s Facebook:

Hello all๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿฝ

We would like to thank you for your continued support throughout this entire pandemic! With the announcement of re-opening at 50% capacity, we have decided to still operate on take-out and drive-thru only, until we are better prepared and equipped to serve you all. We have come to this decision with the safety of our customers and employees in mind. We miss seeing all of you, and will keep you updated on our plans!

Thank you!
-Goodys Grillย ๐Ÿฅ”

From Hero House’s Facebook:

We have sorely missed the great energy and sweet warmth of our community during these past weeks.

It is with much excitement and proper reserve that we are reopening our dining room today at 5 pm with limited capacity to uphold social distancing guidelines put in place to protect our customers and employees.

Rest assured that weโ€™re making every effort to take care of those we serve! We very much look forward to seeing our dear friends sitting at our tables again!

The Re-Emergence Part 6

More restaurant news, part 6:

From Dairi-O’s Facebook:

As we enter into Phase 2 of reopening, we want to give our customers an update on how we will be moving forward with our operations. In order for us to keep our customers and staff as safe as possible, we have decided to keep our dining rooms closed for the time being. Through Memorial Day (5/22-5/24), we will be extending our hours to closing at 10 pm. The following Monday (5/25), we will be returning to our normal business hours from 10 am to 10 pm Sunday through Thursday and 10 am to 11 pm on Friday and Saturday.

After considering the requirements for restaurants under Phase 2, we believe our current drive-thru and curbside procedures are the most effective way to serve our community while maintaining our high standards of service and quality. We have implemented a vigorous cleaning schedule and will continue to require our staff to wear personal protective equipment. We appreciate our customers’ and our staff’s support as we navigate through this next phase together.

From East Coast Wings + Grill’s Facebook:

From Elizabeth’s Pizza’s Facebook:

๐Ÿ“ขOur esteemed loyal Elizabethโ€™s family,

Yesterday Gov. Cooper announced that restaurants can open at 50% capacity. After much consideration, we have decided to not reopen our dining room at this time to ensure the well-being of both our customers and staff.ย ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

We will, however, continue to serve you delicious food in the safest and most efficient way possible. Curbside pickup, take-out and delivery are all still readily available for your convenience.

Before we know it, it will soon be time to see your smiling facesย ๐Ÿ˜„– sharing in our wonderful dining experience.ย ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฅ‚

Please know that we miss you all very muchย ๐Ÿค—, and will update you in the coming days on our dining room reopening.

From Finnigan’s Wake’s Facebook:(thank goodness!!!!)

FINNIGANโ€™S IS COMING BACK!
We are so excited to get back to it and thank you all for your support during our absence.
Finniganโ€™s Wake is reopening for TAKEOUT, CURBSIDE PICKUP, and DELIVERY at 4 pm on Tuesday, June 2nd. Our hours, for now, will be Tuesday-Saturday, 4 pm-10 pm. We will continue reopening in phases so please check our website, Facebook, and Instagram for up-to-date information.
We have been evaluating the phases of reopening and believe that a slow, controlled opening is safest. We will start with takeout, curbside pickup, and delivery and plan for in-house dining in the near future.
The safety of our staff (โ€œthe kidsโ€) is our first priority. We are listening to their concerns and factoring in their needs, as well as those of our beloved customers, as we move forward.
We will continue to exceed all recommended health and safety procedures as we move forward and will communicate those to you as we go. All employees will have their temperatures taken prior to their shift, and if showing any symptoms at any time, will be sent home immediately. They will be wearing gloves and masks while in the building, and strictly maintaining all hygiene measures and social distancing. We require that if you come in The Pub you wear a mask. All social distancing guidelines will be followed, by staff and customers. We will be sanitizing all human contact surfaces regularly, and after contact has been made.
We look forward to seeing, and feeding, you soon.

The Re-Emergence Part 5

Part 5, they’re coming in quick, as I figured they would:

From Clemmons Kitchen’s Facebook:

ATTENTION!!! We will be opening tonight at 5 pm! Our temporary hours are Mon-Sat 8 am-9 pm. We will be adhering to all safety standards and will be practicing social distancing as well! We look forward to seeing all of our amazing customers and thank you for all your continued support!

From Coppola’s Facebook:

Good Friday morning!! Thank you for all your support of small businesses. It means so much to us allย ๐Ÿ™‚ It looks as if phase two has been cleared with the state beginning at 5:00 this evening, however, we will remain take out/curbside and delivery only until at least Monday, May 25. We want to make sure we have a clear plan for our staff/customers and set up our dining room with 6โ€™ spacing between tables. Thank you for your continued patience and support.
Stay well. Donโ€™t forget to call us today for your Friday treat.

From Cowboy Brazilian Steakhouse’s Facebook:

The wait is almost over! We are happy to announce that we will be reopening this coming Wednesday, May 27th at 5:00 PM.

This weekend, while we are preparing to reopen, we will not be doing our Express To Go Menu. Upon reopening next week, weโ€™ll be featuring a more comprehensive to go menu.

Here at Cowboy, we go to great lengths to clean and sanitize our restaurant. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, we are taking additional measures in accordance to CDC guidelines to ensure theย safety of our guests and staff.

Reservations will be highly recommended due to government-mandated seating restrictions, though walk-ins are welcome.

We thank you for your patience during this crisis and look forward to seeing you soon!

More places have announcements:

From Old Fourth Street Filling Station’s Facebook:

We are happy to announce, with the Governor allowing us to open for dining, we have chosen to start dining on May 26th at 11 am. As we will use this time to make sure that we are 100% in compliance with the state, we would also like to rest assure the safety and wellbeing of all our guests and staff!

During the next 5 to 6 weeks of Phase 2, our hours of operation will be the following:

At this time, all seating will be on a first-come-first-served basis, with no reservations. A maximum of up to 6 guests per table at pre-determined tables. All tables will be set with the 6-foot distancing. Tables will not be available within high traffic areas.

All tables and chairs will be sanitized and disinfected before and after each guest is seated.

The waiting area will be our hostess area on the sidewalk (with 6-foot distancing) or in one’s vehicle. Unfortunately, due to the 50% maximum occupancy rule, there will be no waiting area on the patio or inside the restaurant.

We appreciate your patience and continued support as we all have had to ensure the flattening of the curve!

The Re-Emergence Part 3

Part 3.

From Mission Pizza’s Facebook:

We’ll just put the graphic here. If you don’t know what DGAF means, you’ll have to Google it as this is a family blog:

From Monte De Rey’s Facebook:

We are excited to announce in compliance with Gov. Coopers Phase 2 plan all Monte de Rey locations will be open for dine-in service at 50% capacity as of 5 pm this Friday 5/22/2020.

From Ryan’s Restaurant’s Facebook:

COVID-19 update: Ryan’s Restaurant will be opening for full service starting Friday, May 22nd at 5 pm. We will be following the Governor’s guidelines in regards to social distancing, sanitizing, table spacing, etc. We ask that our customers also maintain appropriate social distancing and follow health protocols. If you feel sickly or display symptoms of COVID-19, we ask you that please stay home. Everyone’s health is of the utmost importance, especially during this time. We have amended our hours temporarily where we will be open Monday-Thursday from 5 pm-8:30 pm and Friday-Saturday from 5 pm-9 pm. This is uncharted territory for our staff and we are doing the very best we can to meet all state safety requirements while also serving the public. If you have any concerns or questions regarding the operations of the restaurant, we ask that you please speak with a manager. We are so happy to be back and can’t wait to see our loyal patrons!

From Stoked’s Facebook:

Hey folks we can finally give you an update on reopening!

First.. thank you for your continued love for our staff and our food! This has been a long few months.. we are so thankful for the cards, calls and kind gestures that MANY of you have made. I could honestly cry when thinking about all of you.

……..

We will not open this weekend for many reasons, but mainly because we have to get our sister restaurant out-of-our kitchen. JK!!! No really… This week we will continue to serve dinner to-go/delivery through Sunday.

We’ll open for dining on Tuesday 26th but with limited seating as we get the dust off our training wheels. We open for dine-in/ to-go/delivery
Tuesdays-Thursday 5-9 Friday-Saturday 5-?
CLOSED SUNDAY MONDAY

The strict seating capacity at both locations is uncharted territory for us. Stoked is small and we only have 35 seats total to work with. We will be requiring reservations for inside, including the bar for the foreseeable future. Each table will have a certain amount of time based on the number of guests you bring. 1 hour for 2-4 guests, 1.5 hours for 5-8 guests. This will only be the case during Phase 2, so PLEASE understand our need to turn the tables.

The patio will be serving food first come first serve based on party size/weather and staffing. This too will start slow as we get geared back up….so please know just because there is a table, that doesn’t mean we can sit you. We will try to have waiting tables on the sidewalk, but no inside waiting will be allowed.

As of this coming Tuesday the 26th, we will be requiring ALL to-go orders to be made online throughย Stokedwoodfiredpub.comย SO PLEASE order online so we can bring the food out to you. Text Stoked to 33733 for our app or go directly to our websiteย Stokedwoodfiredpub.comย for ordering. (DO NOT GOOGLE OUR WEBSITE YOU WILL BE CHARGED MONEY WE DO NOT GET)

We know comfort levels will vary for all of you. We won’t those who are looking forward to going out to dinner to feel safe. We want our staff, to feel safe. We are aware of the delicate rope we have to walk. Most importantly we look forward to seeing your smiling faces again!

From The Carriage House’s Facebook:

Hello Carriage House Restaurant friends!ย ๐Ÿ˜„

We are happy to announce that we will be open for dining-in, starting on Friday the 22nd at 5 PM. We are respectful of your safety, therefore, the restaurant will be operating at 50% capacity.

The well-being and satisfaction of our clients is our top priority. We miss you and canโ€™t wait to see you again!ย ๐Ÿ˜Šโœจ

Part 2 of what I’ve found out. Not all are immediately reopening:

From Davie Tavern’s Facebook:

Hello Facebook family and friends. We are excited to announce our soon reopening! We will not be open this Friday 5/22. We are undergoing a deep cleaning and preparing all areas for a safe dining room as well as restocking our pantry with the best meats and produce. We will announce our “official” day very soon. Expect for a Thursday 5/28 reopening. We will continue our delivery and take out as usual. We cannot wait to see you soon!!

From Crafted’s Facebook:ย

Despite the governor having announced that restaurants can reopen at 50% capacity our Winston location will remain closed until further notice while we navigate new systems and procedures and first implement them at our Greensboro locations. Once we feel we we have a good strategy that is working well we will then implement those changes at our Winston location. We will be keeping our Winston community updated through this Facebook page as well as our websiteย eatatcrafted.com

We apologize for the inconvenience but feel this is the bestway to accomplish everything in a safe and effective manner.

From Forsyth Seafood’s Facebook:

The Re-Emergence Part 1

I call this “Part 1” because I’m going through the list and gathering what I see restaurants and or bars have posted about their reopening plans. I don’t want to throw too many in one post because that will get convoluted and I want to make sure that each establishment has their moment of your attention. So let’s start here:

Per 1703 Restaurant’s Facebook:

Phase 2 of re-opening NC will begin this Friday. 1703 will be opening for dine-in service next Tuesday, May 26. There are many modifications we need to make to adjust to the guidelines of NCDHHS. For that reason, we will be offering dinner only for the first two weeks, beginning at 5:00 pm. Reservations will be required for inside and outside since our capacity will be limited. After two weeks, we plan to begin offering lunch Tuesday-Friday and Sunday brunch. We are very excited to see you all, but understand that you may want to continue to stay in. We will continue to offer take out and delivery Tuesday- Sunday, 11:00 am -close. We will also resume our schedule of having Mondays off. Thank you for your patience as we move into the next phase with extreme caution.

Per 6th & Vine’s Facebook:

Getting ready … we wonโ€™t open May 22. We are deep cleaning & training staff. We open for curbside/takeout Wednesday May 27 at 5 pm. And Patio dining opens Friday May 29 at 5 pm.ย #6thandvineย #wsnc

Per Bull’s Tavern’s Facebook:

We will reopen the Wednesday after the Phase 2 order is lifted.

We are currently working through all of our policies to provide a safe environment for employees and our beloved patrons. These policies will be posted prior to opening.

During the 50% restrictions, Bullโ€™s will be very different. We are taking this opportunity to do some smaller seated singer/songwriter shows, to still provide a place for musicians to share their art to the community.

The Bullโ€™s Family, as we call ourselves, see this challenging time as an opportunity to turn negatives into positives.

We love our community and cannot wait to serve you again!

Per Camel City BBQ Factory’s Facebook:

Governor Roy Cooper has implemented Phase 2 and approved inside dining for restaurants.
Although we closed in March we never stopped working, planning, and renovating the restaurant in the effort to provide a better safer experience for all as much is possible in this Pandemic.

To limit touchable surfaces we will have QR codes for menus so guests can use their cell phones to order. But if requested we can also provide a disposable paper menu for easier reading. Also during this time, our menu will be limited to our most popular items. This will help our kitchen staff social distance as much as possible and reduce the amount of times a plate is handled. Our staff is our family and keeping them protected helps us all be safer.

Per Governor Cooper’s orders we will operate at 50% capacity with social distancing. Allowing guests their space is crucial so we have also created pathways to limit crossing paths. In everything we have done it has been our goal to make these changes effortless. Just follow the green steps.

At the entrance we have installed hands-free wash stations so guests can wash their hands as they enter. We also have installed forearm door openers so there’s no need to grab the handles. As for other barriers we’ve installed plexiglass for the cashiers and host stand, and food barriers at the expo window.

There are going to be big changes for all of us in this new frontier. How we communicate, how we serve you, how we order.
One thing that will never change is our commitment to our customers and our passion for serving.
Our motto has always been “Happy to Serve”…It’s what we do.

We look forward to serving you this Friday at 5 pm.

Per Carolina Ale House’s Facebook:

As we move into the next phase of these unprecedented times, we at LM Restaurants & Carolina Ale House are proud to put detailed procedures in place from the CDC to ensure the health and safety of our guests and employees.

Whileย #dineinย service may not be your decision right now, we would like to share our process as we move forward. We have a 2-part cleaning and sanitizing system in place throughout all our restaurants. We are taking extreme efforts in ensuring all surfaces are being thoroughly and frequently cleaned with the appropriate solutions and detergents. Our sanitizer is changed every 2 hours to provide its full concentration.

All employees are required to wear masks to add another layer of protection for our guests. We thank our guests in the community for supporting us during this time of social distancing.

We look forward to continuing to serve you whether you are a dine-in guest orย #takeoutย orย #delivery.

An Open Letter to North Carolina Residents, Support Independent Restaurants

The following was published via NC News Network today. This is a repost and is fully-owned by NCNN. A great piece written by our very own Claire Calvin from The Porch, Alma Mexicana and Canteen Market and Bistro:

Claire Calvin (ยฉNCNN)

I am a small business owner and resident of an incredibly resilient city; I own three restaurants in Winston-Salem – The Porch, Alma Mexicana and Canteen Market & Bistro.

Independent restaurants are the economic engine for so many other local businesses – family farms, vendors, suppliers, and service companies. Chipotle is not hiring your neighborโ€™s graphic design firm for a new logo or a local attorney for legal advice.ย

We support the state and local tax base, donate to local charities and schools, and invest our time and money into improving the community.ย  Collectively, we employ our neighbors who in turn pay rent, buy cars, shop, go out to eat and otherwise participate in our local economy.ย

And, of course, we feed people in ways both physical and emotional. These past few weeks, while our dining room and two of our three restaurants have been closed, our kitchen at The Porch has continued to make and sell food for take-out and delivery, and that has felt so amazing to be able to provide a service to the community in these dark days.

Every person and every industry will have much work to do in the next year to rebuild and restore some sense of normalcy, and the challenges to each are unique and complex. Some industries will be more disrupted than others, but all will face new and difficult problems.

For independent restaurants, the challenges are many and survival depends, in large part, on how federal agencies, state and city governments proceed. Like airlines, hotels and entertainment venues, independent restaurants – particularly ones primarily sustained by dine-in sales – are still in free fall. Simply re-opening is not a solution that will address the needs of most restaurants, so if we care about saving them at all, we need action that specifically targets the issues they face.

As states begin to move away from total lockdowns, there will be many bumps in the road, and no one knows exactly what will happen. Weโ€™re all in uncharted territory, and we must observe and learn from others.

In the past weeks, I haveย been working long days in the restaurant trying to keep our business afloat doing take-out and delivery,ย and before and after work reading as much as I can to learn best practices on re-opening safely from around the world,ย talking to restaurant owners and industry leaders around the country who are trying to re-imagine their businesses, and creating one scenario after another for our own restaurants.ย I am exhausted, mentally and physically, and I know that the next 12 months will require even more of all of us.

I am willing to do the hard work ahead, and I expect the same from our government leaders. “Allowing” restaurants to reopen without financial help, stringent regulations and public (government) support is unconscionable and it will bankrupt small businesses.

Many years ago, I was asked to write about my โ€œwhyโ€ for getting into the restaurant business, and I remember that I wrote the line โ€œThis was never about food.โ€ย It is about building community, and food is the tool we use to do it.ย ย The work we do is about building up and serving the collective community and the people in it. We use food to gather you to our spaces, but then we get to watch magic happen when you all are there with us in that noisy, chaotic and living space.

Please join with us in the hard work it will take to bring back that magic. I really do believe we can get there and beyond, but we need you all to make it happen.
